Hiking, escape of the spirit

What could be better, during your stay in the heart of the Normandy countryside, than to enjoy the flora and fauna. The non-exhaustive list of hikes is presented here. 3 favorites for us, accessible for all levels. Nice walk through this article.

Greenway, walk in the heart of the forest

Almost 9 km long, between the village of Les Barils and Verneuil sur Avre, this completely secure route offers several possibilities for walks. The green lane is paved for 2/3 of the route and does not require a car. You can access it at the Verneuil sur Avre exit in the “Paradis” district or take it along the way near the Pullay town hall.

You will alternate between walking through fields with a breathtaking view of the sublime Ecole Des Roches and walking in the shade of the trees. This greenway can be done by bike, rollerblading, stroller, tricycle or quite simply on foot.

A real breath of fresh air that will take you to the entrance to Center Parcs . For the more intrepid, you can leave the tarmac road and take the forest paths, a veritable maze of leaves and beautiful trees that will transport you far from the city bustle.

Pré Saulé circuit, along the Iton

A long hike of about 6 km, you take it at the foot of the cottage (2 min). A real connection with nature because you will be alone in the world as you cross the Iton and the beautiful forest of Bourth in turn.

Also accessible by bike but not recommended for strollers because the paths are not always passable. A meeting with pretty Norman cows awaits you at the end of the walk. Allow 1.5 hours of travel in the heart of the countryside.

In the footsteps of Pablo Neruda

Be careful, a long walk, it is worth planning before venturing there. Not far from 12 kms which will enchant you as the route is dotted with places and monuments.

Accessible on foot only, no strollers or tricycles. Remember to bring water bottles and headwear in case of hot weather. The circuit starts in Gouville, a small town located halfway between Breteuil and Damville. You will cross fields and forests and admire the former home of the poet Pablo Neruda who stayed in the village of Condé sur Iton.

Another place to contemplate, the castle of Chambray that you will have the opportunity to see on your route. A magnificent 14th century building, which you can visit via the Verneuil sur Avre tourist office. Download the route here .

As you will have understood, walking is at the center of our activities. Let yourself be transported to the midst of oaks or other wheat fields during your stay.
